the beginning of the beginning

Firstly I'll say, im making this blog knowing full well very few people will read it but thats okay. I just needed some place to write about my experiences with marching band and how its changed me.
I guess ill briefly mention that the first time i saw a field show i was about 11.  I was in round up band for a year when I was 14 and in the calgary stetson showband for 2. I had a great time in these bands but they didn't change my life the way the calgary stampede showband has and will continue to.
My first year was last year(2013-2014). At the beginning of the band year I was quite cynical. I kept saying that it was not different than stetsons. I didn't see the point of being there to be honest. I thought that way until out of town camp. I started to see why everyone loved it so much, especially when we had woodwind time. listening to all the seniors talking about the band i got a glimpse of what was to come. i watched these people cry and reflect and i knew i was in for an experience. even after that though I spent the year thinking it was gonna be my last year in the band. I knew it would be hard but i didn't think i could continue if i lived out of town. at this point in time a was also in a pretty low point in my life, band made me feel better because i was completely immersed in something. I didn't really know the extent though that band would come to make in my life.
